Freshwater Algae Blooms
Freshwater algae blooms are hazardous to human and environmental health. Typically, water samples are collected at select locations of water bodies, which leaves gaps in the assessment of the whole water body. Joey Teresi, a UW master’s candidate, aimed to increase knowledge of harmful algae blooms in Washington state by using a multispectral camera mounted on a UAS platform to calculate bloom indices of an entire lake.
