In September and October 2022, Washington’s Bolt Creek wildfire burned about 15,000 acres of land in steep mountainous regions near populated areas of the North Cascades. RAPID supported two NSF data collection projects (awards #2303870 and #2042688) that aimed to study landslide risks resulting from infiltration-excess runoff-initiated debris flows and management of forest system dynamics in the affected area.
