Spangler Landslide

The Spangler landslide occurred in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge in February 2021, causing the closure of a major highway and threatening nearby homes and infrastructure. The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall and the destabilization of a steep hillside, resulted in the evacuation of residents and ongoing efforts to stabilize the area.

A RAPID team collected aerial lidar data for mitigation efforts of the Spangler landslide located near Molino, OR. OSU Professor Mike Olsen’s team heads this collaborative project and includes people from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
